ABOUT US DC Selects was formed in 2010 by Rob Keegan and Dan Houck as an avenue for top players from the greater DC area to develop their skills and showcase their talent on a national level. Our players will compete and practice at the highest possible level in the spring months. Our organization will strive to produce the best possible combination of coaching and training in the region. Our teams will all take part in quality practices and play with the high intensity which we practice.
COACHING STAFF All teams will be coached by Rob Keegan and Dan Houck.
ROB KEEGAN Rob Keegan played youth hockey in Deerfield, Illinois prior to playing at the Tier I level for the Chicago Spitfires and Chicago Young Americans. He prepped at Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts and played four years at Penn State University. Rob graduated from Penn State second on the all-time scoring list, a two-time “MVP” and team captain. Twice an ACHA All-American, he received the prestigious Bob Johnson Award as the “National Player of the Year” in his senior campaign. As the first Penn State player to attend an NHL training camp he enjoyed brief stints with Macon (CHL), Johnstown (ECHL), Cleveland (IHL) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL). In February 2002, Rob was inducted into the Penn State Hockey Hall of Fame. Rob has been head instructor for the Turcotte Stickhandling Hockey School since 1994. A USA Hockey advanced Level certified coach and an instructor/clinician since 1986 he was selected by the Washington Post as All-Metropolitan “Coach of the Year” for the 2000-2001 season. Rob has been Director of Hockey for Montgomery Youth Hockey Association since 1997 and was founding Director of Coaching for Team Maryland Tier I AAA. Rob Keegan
DAN HOUCK Dan Houck grew up in Boyertown, Pennsylvania. As a youth player he played for both the Junior and Little Flyers. Dan attended Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts where he was a member of the varsity hockey team that played in the New England Division I Prep Finals in 1998. After Deerfield, Dan attended Williams College in Williamstown, MA. He was a four year varsity player, team captain his senior year, and team MVP. Upon graduating from Williams Dan was hired by Montgomery Youth Hockey Association as Director of Skill Development from 2003-2007. During his first season as head coach his Bantam AAA team won the PVAHA Affiliate and finished runner-up in the Southeast District Championship. In 2005-06 his Bantam AAA team won the PVAHA and was again runner-up in the Southeast District. In 2006-07, his U16 AAA team won the PVAHA affiliate, was Southeast District Champion, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the USA Hockey National Championships in Rochester, NY. In 2007-08 Dan was the Head Coach of both Pee Wee Minor and Pee Wee Major for Team Maryland. His Pee Wee Major Team was the first Team Maryland team to capture the Atlantic Youth Hockey League Championship. Currently Dan also serves as a scout for the United States Hockey League (USHL) Central Scouting Staff in the region. His company, Hockey Dynamics Inc, is the skills consultant to Navy Youth Hockey in Annapolis, Maryland and his summer training program, Maryland Model, is where some of the best midget, prep, and DI/III players in the region train. Dan has been Coaching Director for Team Maryland since the 2008-09 season and is currently holds a level IV USA Hockey Coaching Certification. Dan Houck
